In loving memory of George E. Palmer, Jr.
October 25, 1933 – November 24, 2023.
George passed away peacefully at his home in Leominster, MA with his loving wife, Gerri at his side.
George was born and grew up in Quincy, MA. He received his associates certificate at Wentworth College in Industrial Electronics. George proudly served as a Sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War, where he was trained as a radio operator. Shortly after his honorable discharge in 1961, George started to work as a Tech Writer for Raytheon where he met many lifetime friends.
George was fortunate enough to take an early retirement in 1988 at the age of 56, giving him the ability to travel and pursue his passions.
Known for his (dry) sense of humor and diverse talents, he could never sit still, immersing himself in groups (Algonquin Camper and Free Masons) as well as hobbies like traveling North America in his RV, cruising through the Caribbean, birdhouse building, bird watching, electronics, remote control airplanes, gardening, fishing, target practice, ham radios, and crafting his telescope. Not to mention his love for hot sauce and consuming the Maine Lobster (with butter, but no lemon)!
He will be deeply missed by his wife Gerri and remembered fondly by his children Nancy, Laura, and Jim, and his stepchildren Cheryl, Scott and Kimberly, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In his memory, let us celebrate a life rich in accomplishments, friendship, family, laughter, and love.
George was predeceased by his first wife, Marian, his second wife, Judy, as well as two predeceased children, Sheryl and Georgie.
He touched the lives of many. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Rest in peace Dad!
A service will take place in the funeral home on Monday, December 4 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
