Gerald John Cormier, affectionately known as Gerry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, at the age of 75 in Gardner, Massachusetts. Born on October 28, 1948, in Leominster, Massachusetts, Gerry was a man whose warmth and humor brought joy to all who knew him.
Gerry was a proud son of the late Ernest Cormier Sr., a WWII veteran, and the late Mary G. Cloutier. He was also a cherished stepson to the late Laval B. Cloutier. Though he faced the loss of many loved ones, including his brothers Ernest Jr., Harold, and Norman Cormier, and his sisters Lorraine M. Gonynor and Pamela A. Cloutier, Gerry's resilient spirit never wavered.
He is survived by his son, Derek C. Cormier, his stepdaughter, Julie A. Roy, and his former wife and friend, Linda L. Cormier, who all held special places in his heart.
Gerry was a graduate of Leominster Trade, where he honed his skills in machinery. His craftsmanship shone through in his career as a furniture builder, a profession where his attention to detail and dedication were evident in every piece he created. An avid sports fan, Gerry's love for his New England teams, the Patriots and the Red Sox, was matched only by his passion for music. He found great joy in the tunes of The Beatles, Boston, The Cars, and Bad Company. Gerry also relished the nostalgia of classic television shows like "All in the Family" and "Happy Days."
Those who knew Gerry will remember him as a friendly, interesting, and funny individual. His ability to light up a room with his humor and engaging stories will be dearly missed. Gerry's legacy of laughter and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
