Gerald “Jerry” Louis Nelson 80 years old, died on February 18th. He passed away peacefully in Sterling, MA. He was born to Louis & Rita Nelson (Whitcomb) on March 3, 1944 in Sterling, MA.
He was an exceptional student and had a football scholarship to attend college. Instead entered the United States Air-force following his graduation from Wachusett Regional High School and was sent overseas to serve in Korea and had noted the experience in many family conversations and was very proud of serving our country Following his discharge from the military he worked briefly for a Crowley Associates located in Leominster, MA and left that job to start his own company as a contractor “Quality Excavators Inc” of Leominster, MA for 50 years.
Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast, who enjoyed football & played for the “Twin City Chiefs”. He raced cars, loved playing golf and played hockey with the “Old Timers” of the Wallace Civic Center for many years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved sister Judith Nelson and child Elena Marie Knight. He is survived by his ex-wife Gloria Leon Nelson, and children Debbie Nelson Quarterman, Kris Nelson and his sisters Joyce Girard and Joan Rahaim. Grandchildren Louis Dabney, Diana Dabney, Heather Sharos, Stephen Sharos, Andrew Sharos, Randy Nelson and Ricki Langen. He also leaves Many Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no services at this time.
