Gerald "Gerry" VanVleck Obituary

Gerald B. "Gerry" VanVleck, a cherished father, uncle, brother and friend, peacefully left us on January 20, 2025, after a valiant journey through health complications. Born on June 1, 1957, in Holden, MA, Gerry's life was a testament to strength and resilience, as well as an unwavering love for those he held dear.

Gerry’s family was his compass and he was a monumental presence for his close circle. He leaves behind his daughter, Shaye VanVleck, who has inherited his tenacity and independence as well as his niece Olivia VanVleck, who has always cherished his undeniable support. He has left behind his sister in-law Mo Beaudin who has always felt safe and deeply encouraged by him. He is also survived by his younger sister Sharon Devillers. Gerry is predeceased by his beloved twin Larry VanVleck, his lifelong friend Eileen Beaudin, and his first born son Eric VanVleck.

Gerry was an outdoorsman and this passion trickled into his 25 year long profession as a foreman of irrigation at Lakeview Landscaping. His dedication to his work was surpassed only by his loyalty to those he served. Clients often spoke of Gerry not just as a service provider, but a man who enriched their lives with his in-depth approach to his craft. His work, like his life, was an artwork of commitment and diligence.

Beyond the borders of his professional landscape, Gerry's love for nature was the essence of his being. The White Mountains knew his footsteps well, while he appreciated their vastness with the same patience he approached every aspect of his life. Gerry’s love for hunting was not just a hobby but a communion with nature and a time for reflection. He found peace in the wilderness he so dearly loved and respected the land he walked on. Whether camping outside a fire pit or admiring live music, Gerry found solace in the simple things in life. His protective nature was a towering strength for his family, and Gerry in himself was a shelter to those he loved.

Gerry was not just a man, but a force of nature that made an impact on every life he touched. As we honor his journey, let us remember the lessons he taught through his living: to be passionate protectors of those we love, finish what we start and live each moment with gratitude.

As we say farewell to Gerry VanVleck, let us carry forward his legacy with trust that what is meant to be, will be.
