LEOMINSTER---Gertrude L. (Hazard) Burnett, 89 years old, of Leominster, died Sunday, June 19, 2016 in her home after an illness. She is survived by 4 daughters Maxine E. Smith and her husband Jimmy of Fitchburg, Irene M. Armstrong and her husband Roco of Edwardsville, IL, Pauline A. Beatty of Fitchburg and Corrine L. Shields and her husband Clinton of Chicago, IL, 3 sons Max M. Burnett, Jr. and his wife Andrea of Leominster, Martin A. Burnett of Henderson, NV and Mark B. Burnett of Leominster, a brother Philip Hazard of Ayer, 21 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a great great-grandson, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Max M. Burnett, Sr., a son Lonnie W., and brothers Elmer Hazard and Raymond Hazard.
Gertrude was born November 20, 1926 in Leominster, daughter of Fredrick A. and Ellen L. Hazard and had lived here most of her life. She graduated from Leominster High School and had worked at the former Foster Grant Company in Leominster. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leominster and a member of the Household of Ruth.
Gertrude’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 11 am in the First Baptist Church of Leominster, 23 West Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 21st from 4-7 pm in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Leominster Fellowship Fund, 23 West Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
