Gilbert "Gil" Anderson Obituary

Gilbert W. Anderson, affectionately known as Gil to his friends and family, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2024, at the age of 82, in his hometown of Leominster, Massachusetts. Born on October 2, 1941, in Leominster, Gil was a lifelong resident and a well-known figure within the community.

Gil is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Faith (Johnson) Anderson, with whom he shared many cherished moments and adventures. He was a devoted father to his son, Todd Anderson of Lunenburg, and daughter, Tracey Gauthier and husband Mark of Ashburnham. His stepdaughters, Kelly Scola and husband Barry of Leominster and Hope Morse of Lancaster, also held a special place in his heart. Gil was a proud uncle to his nephew Timothy Arsenault and wife Cheryl of Leominister and niece Pamela Florey and husband Shawn of Leominster. His sister-in-law, Janice Defalco of Auburn, will remember him fondly. Gil's legacy continues through his eight grandchildren, Sam and Ben Anderson, Matthew and Tyler Gauthier, Sarah Scola, Amanda Nisula, and Sadie and Austin Gauthier, as well as his four great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Camilla, Matti, and Mazi Nisula. He also leaves his ex-wife, Marilyn Anderson, who is the mother of his children.

Predeceased by his parents, John and Anna (Hatton) Anderson, and his sister and brother-in-law Rena and Bob Arsenault, Gil's memory will be honored by all who knew him.

Gil was a proud alumnus of Leominster High School Saxton Trade, where he formed the foundation of his strong work ethic and community spirit. His career was as diverse as his interests, having been a long-time employee at Victory Supermarket, a Service Manager at Cipolla Ford, and a Salesman at Rick Starr. Gil also dedicated many years to working with his son-in-law and step-daughter Kelly for Elite Carpet & Floor Cleaners, showcasing his versatile skills.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Gil served his community with passion as a board member of the Lunenburg Senior Center. His dedication to service was evident in all his actions, and his contributions to the center will be remembered by all who benefited from his efforts.

Gil had a zest for life that was contagious. He enjoyed playing Bocce, a game that not only brought him joy but also a sense of camaraderie with his teammates and competitors. Traveling was another of his passions, exploring new places and experiencing different cultures with his beloved wife by his side. Gil's love for car racing ignited a thrill for speed and precision, while his interest in listening to the police scanner kept him connected to the pulse of his hometown. Country music was the soundtrack of his life, providing rhythm and comfort in his daily routine.

To those who knew him, Gil was more than just a list of hobbies and accomplishments; he was a symbol of steadfastness, generosity, and warmth. His infectious laugh, keen sense of humor, and the stories he shared will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Gilbert W. Anderson, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and lasting memories. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Gil's journey through life may have come to a peaceful end, but the stories of his kindness, friendship, and the love he shared will continue to resonate for generations to come.
