Grace (Cassar) Bahde

LEOMINSTER----Grace (Cassar) Bahde, 92 years old of Leominster, formerly of Fitchburg, died Saturday, January 21, 2017, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Salvatore of Leominster, son Stephen J. Bahde and his wife Marta of Leominster, daughter-in-law Christine Bahde of Shrewsbury, 2 grandchildren, Juliane Davis and her husband Colin and Stephen M. Bahde and his wife Jessica, and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Bahde in 1995, her son, Louis J. Bahde in 2005, and by 2 sisters Flora Cassar and Yvonne Adam.

Grace was born February 12, 1924 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada and had lived in Fitchburg most of her life prior to moving to Leominster. She had worked at Parke Snow’s and in the Children’s Department at Kmart for several years and then was a supervisor of the Infants and Children’s Department at Wal-Mart before retiring. She worked well into her 80s and was a multiple winner of the Friendliest Associate Award at Wal-Mart. Grace was a member of St. Anna’s Parish in Leominster and was a volunteer at HealthAlliance-Leominster Hospital. She was a voracious reader, an incredible cook, a wonderful listener and advice-giver, and had the gift to find humor in everything. She loved the ocean, going to the movies and dinner with family and friends, and music (from Benny Goodman to the Rolling Stones). Everyone she met was graced with a hug or a kiss. She cherished her family, as her children and grandchildren gave her much joy, and she gave it back hundredfold. As mothers go, we won the lottery. Our beloved mother will remain in our hearts forever-until we meet again…
