Gregory Barbin Obituary

Gregory George Barbin, known to all as Greg, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 23, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on October 2, 1953, in Augusta, ME to George G. Barbin and Shirley (Benoit) Barbin, Greg spent his final days surrounded by the love of his family in Lunenburg, MA.

Greg's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his love for simple pleasures. He shared 34 beautiful years of marriage with his wife, Brenda Barbin, who was his rock and confidante through all seasons of life. Together, they raised two remarkable sons, Cliff Allen and Ryan Barbin, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of family.

Greg's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Tyler Barbin, Victoria, Jeff, and Corey Allen, his sister Linda Mims with husband John Mims and brother Gary Barbin, niece Heather Schwartz with husband Derek Schwartz with daughters Emily and Meghan Baldini and niece Jennifer Mullaney with son Gene Lepage, his daughter-in-law Bonnie Allen, sister-in-law Jackie Rosa, niece Christina Rosa, nephew Joe Rosa with wife Christina Rosa, sister-in-law Shelly Colecchi with husband Keven Colecchi and nephew Nicco Colecchi and niece Julia Colechi, brother-in-law Randy Grosser with wife Lena Gosser and niece Brianna Grosser and very close loved ones he cherished being around, Neil and Gail Chamberlain, David Callahan, and John Mullaney who will remember him for his playful spirit and the countless hours spent teaching them the finer points of playing horseshoes—a game he loved and excelled at. His family and friends will fondly recall his stories and the warmth of his laughter during family gatherings.

As the proud owner of G. Barbin Heating for 46 years, Greg was well-known in the community for his expertise and his commitment to service. His business was not just a means of livelihood; it was a way to connect with his neighbors and to ensure their comfort during the harsh New England winters. Greg's reputation for honesty and reliability made him a respected figure both in the industry and among the many households he served.

Beyond his professional life, Greg was an active member of the community, often participating in local events and lending a helping hand whenever needed. His presence was a staple at the horseshoe pits where he spent many a summer evening challenging friends and cheering others on. The camaraderie and friendly competition were sources of great joy for him.

Greg's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship. He approached each day with a positive attitude and a readiness to make the best of what life offered. His resilience in the face of illness was an inspiration to all who knew him, and his humor never faltered, even in his final days.

As we say goodbye to Gregory George Barbin, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with laughter, kindness, and an abundance of cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Greg's spirit will continue to guide and influence us, just as the warmth of a well-tended fire brings comfort on a cold night.

Greg's journey through life has come to a peaceful end, but the love he shared and the impact he had on those around him will never be forgotten. Let us honor his memory by embracing the values he lived by: love generously, work earnestly, and make time for fun. Farewell, Greg; you have left an indelible mark on our hearts.
