PRINCETON---Harriet G. (Foster) Martin, 98 years old, fondly known as Happy, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Christopher House in Worcester. She leaves three sons Richard A. Martin and his wife Catherine of Sterling, Robert L. Martin and his wife Marilyn of Worcester, VT, and William B. Martin and his wife Agnes of San Fernando, La Union, Philippines; eight grandchildren Craig Martin and his wife Susan, Adam Martin, Tiffany Martin, Travis Martin, Julie Blake, Zoe Sophia Ann Martin, Valerie Matthews and her husband Kerry, Pamela Amsden and Michael Renjo Tanboc; five great grandchildren Craig “CJ” Martin, Cameron Amsden, Michael Dubeau, Joshua Blake and Katelin Blake. She also leaves a brother Charles Foster and his wife Barbara; and a brother-in-law Benjamin Gaieski. Happy was predeceased by her husband Richard L. Martin, four sisters Claire Foster, Eleanor Wiles and her husband Vernon, Ruth Bailey and her husband Roland and Constance Gaieski, and an infant grandson, Steele Martin. She also joins her lifelong friend Jeannie (Smith) Baker.

Happy was born in Leominster on December 19, 1919, daughter of Malcolm H. and Henrietta (Jefferson) Foster and was a graduate of Leominster High School. She lived in Sterling for many years before moving to Princeton over 30 years ago. She had been a flower designer at Hill Top Flower Shop in Worcester for several years. Happy was a former member of the First Church of Sterling and First Congregational Church of Princeton and Temple Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was very active in the Sterling Community and is best known for her creative art work with youth through the Sterling Summer Recreation Program. Her life revolved around her family and friends and she never lost her love of children. Her love of Disney especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse kept her young at heart. Her favorite trip was meeting Mickey Mouse at Disney World. Happy's baking ability was well known throughout the community especially her jumbo cookies.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 1 pm in First Church in Sterling, 6 Meetinghouse Hill Rd, Sterling. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sterling. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of Sterling www.fcsterling.org/donate, or a donation to your favorite charity.
