Helga Farinelli, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 6, 1936, in Essen, Germany, to Maria (Steinborn) and Wilhelm Goschau. Helga's journey brought her love when she met and married Anthony Farinelli, with whom she shared 59 joyous years. Together, they built a family characterized by warmth and devotion.
Although she was predeceased by her cherished husband and her dear son Billy Farinelli, Helga's legacy continues through her loving children Eva LeMay and her husband Ralph, Kim Mitchell and her husband Brooke, Charles Farinelli and his wife Christianna, Nancy LeBlanc and her partner Glenn, and Toni Branowicki and her husband Kenneth, sisters Rita Lambrecht and her husband Johan and Ursula Forringer and her husband William, as well as two sister in laws and one brother in-law and many nieces and a nephew. Helga's role as a matriarch extended to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, who will all remember her fondly and affectionately their Omi.
Helga's professional life was marked by a dedicated 12-year tenure at Rand Whitney, where she was esteemed by her colleagues for her diligence and spirit of cooperation. Following her successful career, she chose to devote herself to nurturing young minds as a nanny, a role she embraced with love and patience for six years.
A woman of varied interests, Helga found joy in the thrill of the casino, the camaraderie of bingo nights, and the excitement of travel. Her hands were rarely still, as she delighted in the intricate art of knitting, creating countless pieces that will be cherished as tokens of her talent and thoughtfulness. Family time was the pinnacle of Helga's life, as she believed in the power of togetherness and the beauty of shared moments. Helga's involvement with the Elks highlighted her social nature; she was invariably the life of the party, bringing laughter and lightness wherever she went. Her presence was a magnet for joy, and her absence will be deeply felt by her fellow members.
Those who knew Helga would unanimously agree that 'loving' and 'kind' were not merely descriptive words, but the essence of her being. She approached life with an open heart, welcoming all who crossed her path with a radiant smile and an empathetic ear. Her capacity for love was boundless, as evidenced by her devotion to her beloved dog Billie, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship throughout her later years.
As we bid farewell to Helga Farinelli, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Her memory will be a treasure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, a gentle reminder of the profound impact one life can make. Helga's story does not end with her passing but lives on through the love she gave and the lives she enriched.
