BALDWINVILLE – --Hildegard “Hilde” (Nisters) Amburgey, 87, of Baldwinville, died Friday, February 5, 2021 at Alliance Health of Baldwinville after an illness.
Hilde was born in Trier, Germany, on September 2, 1933, the daughter of the late Johann and Francesca (Kahlen) Nisters. She lived in Trier until 1960 when she moved to Leominster with her husband Richard Amburgey. Hilde and Richard met while he was stationed at Bitburg Air Force Base in Bitburg, Germany. Hilde worked for the German government as a secretary until she moved to Leominster and stayed home to raise her children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping in her younger years. More recently she enjoyed watching the Patriots and was an avid bingo player at Alliance Health.
She leaves two daughters, Edith Hamel and her husband Walter of Princeton and Kathleen Matson and her husband Calvin of Baldwinville; five grandchildren, Melissa Newell and her husband Jonathan of Indian Trail, NC, Christopher Hamel and his wife Janelle of Lancaster, Isaac Matson and his wife Elizabeth of Alfred, NY, Caleb Matson and his wife Jesenia of Fitchburg, and Zechariah Matson and his wife Carly of Jacksonville, NC; as well as six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Richard, her sister Katharina Heidweiler and her brother Hans Nisters, both of Trier, Germany.
A service will be held at a later date due to COVID restrictions. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alliance Health at Baldwinville, 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436. Please note, Activity Fund in memory of Hilde Amburgey. The Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster is assisting the family with arrangements.
