James Richard Bell (Jim, Jimmy), 63, of Leominster, MA (Chatham, NY) passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 20, 2025, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from ‘79-‘83. He worked as a Chatham Police Officer and County Corrections Officer for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as he was happy just to be with them and would try just about anything. His goofy sense of humor and dad jokes stayed with him to the very end. Throughout his adult life, he found joy in working with his hands and tinkering with computers/programming which he used to serve God in his church community at City United. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jim will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Heather Bell, his daughter, Hannah Bell (Jason Perlberg) and many friends and family members.
Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
We welcome all to join us in celebrating Jim. Visitation will be held at City United Church, 194 Electric Ave., Lunenburg, MA 01462 on May 17, 2025 beginning at 11:30am with a service to follow at 12:30pm led by Pastor Gary Moritz.
In lieu of flowers, it is the family’s request that anyone wishing to express their sympathy, please do so by making a donation to your local no-kill animal shelter or by making a donation in Jim’s name to American Cancer Society to support pancreatic cancer research at donate.cancer.org
