LEOMINSTER- Jarvis P. Mayo Jr., 84, of Leominster, died April 28, at UMass Medical Center after an illness.
Jarvis was born July 11, 1938, in Concord, son of the late Jarvis P. Mayo Sr. and the late Irja (Hautamaki) Mayo. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1956 and went on to join The United States Coastguard. Jarvis owned Keeper’s Supply and later worked for Rovic and Hillyard Inc. He was a member of The Montachusett’s Area Rotary Club. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, day trips, crossword puzzles, and was also an avid reader.
He leaves his wife with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in October, Joyce (Pilawich) Mayo; four children, Jodi Nenninger and husband Steve of Holden, Jill Murphy and husband Roy of Attleboro, Jay Mayo and wife Carol of Shrewsbury and Ft. Myers, FL and Jeffrey Mayo of Worcester; nine grandchildren, Ashley Daviau, Janelle Mayo, Jeffrey Mayo Jr., Lauren Murphy, Paul Murphy, Kyle Nenninger, Timothy Nenninger, Caitlyn Nenninger and Alana Lane; five great grandchildren, Janeyah Mayo, Kamryn Daviau, Jaxon Guay, Jordyn Daviau and Iyla Guay; one sister, Joan Chappelle of Yellow Springs, OH; nephew Brian Evans and niece Jennifer Evans.
Calling hours are Wednesday, May 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. followed by the funeral starting at 11:30 A.M. at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
