Jason "J" was born in Leominster, MA at Health Alliance Hospital and raised in the Cleghorn neighborhood of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Jason spent his youth playing basketball and training Karate while going to school in Fitchburg and then graduating from his alma mater Fitchburg High School, in 2003. After graduating FHS, Jason held various management positions at different restaurants working his way up to General Manager at Papa Gino’s in Lowell, MA. Then after switching industries, he worked his way up to manager at a local cannabis cultivation facility.
After all his various titles and positions, Jason will be remembered most for his selflessness. If you were hungry, he had a plate ready for you. If you needed a drinking partner, his bottle was open. If you needed a place to crash after a long night, he had a couch for you. And when some needed it the most, it always seemed like the spare room was available for them to move into. Most importantly, when you needed someone to talk to, he always had an open ear and would just listen to what you had to say. Jason had a special way of connecting with people and bringing them together, with his eccentric sense of humor and care-free attitude. Nothing was more important to him than being in the moment, with the people he loved.
Jason is survived by his mother, Pauline Sommala, his father, Sammy Sommala, and his brother, David Sommala. His memory will be forever carried on by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and all the brothers he made along the way...
Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 8 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
