Jean M. Grady

Jean M. Grady a lifelong resident of Leominster, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025 at Leominster Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 90 years old.

Born on August 2, 1934 in Leominster, Jean was the daughter of Helen McKenna and William Grady and the sister of the late Billy Grady. At an early age, she showed a compassion for others, a gift that would shape her life’s work and touch countless lives.

She graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from Boston College — achievements that reflected her passion for learning and caring for others.

Her career began as a pediatric nurse at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg where her kindness and gentle spirit made her a favorite among patients and families. She later dedicated herself to shaping future generations of nurses as an instructor at Leominster Hospital’s School of Nursing, ultimately serving as the Director of the Nursing Program for 12 years.

Nursing was not only her profession it was her calling. She believed in the power of empathy, education, and service. Her lifelong commitment to bettering healthcare in the community continued through her leadership as President of the HealthAlliance Guild where she remained a devoted committee member.

Jean lived her life with warmth, humor, and an open heart. She shared an extraordinary 87-year friendship with her best friend, Rosalie O’Donnell. Jean embraced the O’Donnell family and Daigneault family as her own.

She will be remembered for the way she loved gently and with a full heart and for the joy she brought to those lucky enough to know her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love of life will live on in all the lives she touched.

A funeral Mass for Jean will be held on Friday May 2 at 11am in St. Leo Church, 128 Main St. Leominster. Burial is private. A calling hour in the funeral home will precede the funeral from 9:30am to 10:30am. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net
