Jeffrey Stephens Obituary

Surrounded by his loving family, Jeffrey Peter Stephens, 50, of Leominster, MA passed away Thursday, August 11 after a long and valiant struggle with a serious illness. Jeff was born on November 15, 1971 and is survived by his parents Peter Vincent and Claudia Ann (Letarte) Stephens of Fitchburg, MA.

Jeff leaves behind the loves of his life, his wife Deana Marie (Myron) Stephens, his son Peter Arthur Stephens and daughter Bridget Marie Stephens, all of Leominster, MA. He is also survived by his two sisters, Rebecca Elizabeth (Stephens) Jackman with her husband Jack of Fitchburg and Melissa Annelise (Stephens) McKenna with her husband Jim of Shrewsbury, his parents-in-law, Arthur and Donna Myron with Donna Lundeen of Pepperell, brother-in-law Michael Myron with his wife Denise and the many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins that made up his close-knit, supportive and loving family.

Jeff graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1990 where he was a FHS Athletic Hall of Fame track and field athlete. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fitchburg State University, where he was also a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Jeff most recently was proud to serve as the Director of the Health Department for the City of Leominster, having previously served as the Health Director for the Town of Westford and as a Health Inspector for the City of Fitchburg. Jeff touched, and was touched by, many lives in the course of doing the job he so loved.

The world has lost a truly remarkable man. Jeff was the quintessential “go to guy.” He was there to help anyone, at any time with anything they needed. As all who knew and loved him can attest, he always had two hands to give; one to lend for help and one to give a hug for support. Jeff never said no to any request, but rather would say “I’ll get it done.” He also gave his time to many civic and private organizations. He was Chair of the Board of Governors of the Montachusett Branch of the YMCA, a member of the Leominster Elks and President of the Bass Point Club. Jeff was an avid golfer and member of Monoosnock Country Club of Leominster and enjoyed playing and coaching both ice and street hockey in many Leominster DekHockey and Fitchburg Street Hockey leagues. He will be dearly missed by numerous friends, colleagues and teammates.
