John Anderson, 60, of Lancaster passed away on January 16th 2025. His sudden and unexpected death was the result of a ruptured aneurysm in his brain.
John was born to James Anderson and Patricia (Fahy) Anderson on February 20, 1964 in Utica, New York. He graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1982 and went on to earn degrees in Computer Science and Anthropology from SUNY Potsdam in 1986.
John was a self-proclaimed geek who spent his whole career in tech. He loved restoring retro computers, Star Trek, sci-fi, and 80’s music. He felt there was always room for a well-placed dad joke. He loved being outdoors and kayaking. The Adirondacks were a lifelong special place for him.
John had a quiet but profound impact on the lives of those around him. He found great joy in helping and serving others, often working tirelessly in the background to ensure everything ran smoothly. Whether it was solving a technical problem, offering friendship and support, or lightening someone’s load, John approached every task with kindness and a generous spirit. He didn’t seek recognition or praise; his reward was knowing he had made someone else’s day a little easier.
John is survived by his loving wife, Alison, with whom he shared 11 wonderful years of marriage, their relationship was one of true partnership and unwavering trust. He was a devoted father to their 9 year old son, Owen. John and Owen shared a uniquely special bond that will live on in Owen’s heart. John was also previously married and is survived by his adult daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA.
We will carry John’s memory with us, honoring his life by carrying forward the same kindness, generosity and dedication to helping others that he embodied all his life.
Services will be held at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster, MA. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 22nd 4-7pm and funeral service on Thursday, January 23rd at 11:00am.
