After a determined battle, John Graham Cosby passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at the age of 56 surrounded by his beloved family.
Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1968, to the late William Kenneth and Josephine Mary (Jeske) Cosby, John was a kind and loving soul known for his intelligence, gentle humor, and devotion to family, friends, and colleagues. A graduate of Framingham North High School (1986) and Framingham State University (2009), John worked for Banyan Systems for many years before leaving for a warehouse position at Dennison Manufacturing in Framingham. After Dennison was acquired by Avery, John moved to Leominster, MA, working for the company for over 20 years. A smart, capable, driven contributor, John rose to a position in Customer Service for the Automotive Team.
Fostering strong relationships, John became known for his kind, generous spirit, developing friendships that lasted for many years. He shared close ties with many of his neighbors and co-workers, attending their family celebrations, athletic events, and traveling to visit them in other parts of the country and throughout the world. He was so loved and respected that he was asked several times to play Santa for Avery’s Christmas party and was one of the most beloved in that role. And always up for an adventure with his high school buddies, he kept in close touch with them throughout the years.
John loved cooking, discussing politics, traveling, and sports. He enjoyed participating in sports, himself, which included street hockey leagues and men’s softball in Southborough, where he was a member of the Fayville AA for many years. He was a devoted follower of all Boston sports teams, including the New England Revolution, where he held season tickets from the very first season in 1996. He could be found at many events including those for the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics, attending some of the most exciting, such as Bruin's playoff games, the FIFA 1998 World Cup in France, and the 2004 World Series in Fenway Park. However, his favorite events were always the ones his nieces and nephews participated in.
As a deeply spiritual man, John treasured his Catholic faith and loved to explore its depth and meaning. Well-read and reflective, he was admired for his adherence to his convictions and was always respectful of the spiritual beliefs and perspectives of others. He also enjoyed new experiences, traveling extensively throughout the United States and many other countries including Canada, France, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Germany, and Brazil, among others. He attended world events, pilgrimages, or simply visited family and friends. He always came back with great stories to tell which will forever be imbedded in family memory. As the favorite uncle, John spent many hours engaging with his nieces and nephews in whatever they were involved with – sports, music, art, or just spending time with them. They were his greatest joy.
John is survived by his brothers and sisters, Joseph and his wife Eileen of Fort Valley, VA; Therese Reilly and her husband Kevin of Holliston, MA; Peter and his wife Ann of Greenville, RI; Mary Walsh and her husband John of Burlington, NC; Ruth Driscoll and her husband Michael of Sutton, MA; Rebecca of Marlborough, MA; and Philip and his wife Adelaine of Marlborough, MA; as well as by 19 nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 26 from 4 to 7 pm at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27 at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA. Burial will be private
