John F. Julian, 87 years old, of Lancaster, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Leominster, MA on September 3, 1934, the son of Carl and Louise (Odette) Julian. John married his high school sweetheart, and they were happily married for 65 years. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, two sons, Peter (Miguel) and Andy (Donna), two daughters, Sallie Hanson (David) and Deanna McNamara (John), ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
John and his brother Dick started and ran Julian Brothers Construction Company for many years. He later became the Public Works Director for the City of Leominster. In 1988, he retired with Carolyn to their new home on Spec Pond in Lancaster, MA.
John devoted his life to his family. He was the sweetest, kindest and most generous man. He was always willing & looking forward to helping his children & grandchildren with whatever they needed.
He loved travel and camping vacations with his family. He explored most of the United States in a tent trailer with his adoring wife and four small children…and he still remained married! His favorite travel destination was Italy, of course.
John had an artistic streak. He taught his children to make Christmas wreaths and, for several years, the Julian family had this as an annual holiday business. In later life, he took up watercolor painting and created many wonderful pictures. He also began building dollhouses for his many great-granddaughters.
John served his community well. He worked on several Habitat for Humanity projects, was a mentor in the Big Brother’s program for years and was constantly building and renovating houses for his children and grandchildren. He knew how to do and fix just about anything. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and his strong faith was evident in his attitude of selfless giving and caring for others.
We know he will always be watching over us! We love you!
