LUNENBURG---Joseph R. Chiminiello, 90 years old, of Lunenburg, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in his home after an illness. He is survived by his daughters Donna Marchionni and her husband Umberto of Italy, Michelle Holman of Lunenburg, Joan Fontaine of Lunenburg and Jeannene Peterson of Tennessee, son Joseph Chiminiello, Jr. of Florida, 18 grandchildren, including Tyler Boissoneau, Lillian Holman and Savannah Holman, with whom he lived. He was predeceased by his son Charles St. George and a grandson.
Joseph was born in Quincy on December 6, 1925, son of Dominic J. and Madeline (Pecce) Chiminiello and had lived in this area for 43 years. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. Joseph had been a superintendent at Perini Corp. in Framingham for 20 years. He then owned and operated Joseph & Victoria’s Take-Out in Lunenburg.
Joseph enjoyed most, his family and hobbies at home. In his years of retirement, he loved doing little projects around the house and playing with his grandchildren. In his earlier days, he loved the ocean, playing bocce on the beach, and home cooked meals with loved ones. Joseph had an amazing work ethic, taking no vacation in over 7 years with the Perini Corp. Even as a senior who just last winter was still shoveling, weed-wacking and cutting the lawn. Joseph was a genuine individual, caring, and compassionate and loved people. He enjoyed relating with others.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2 pm at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 25th from 6-8 pm in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster.
