Joseph A. Dumas, 58, of Leominster, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 after a brief illness.
Joe is survived by his wife Pamela (Smart). Children Robert Smart and his wife Ashley of Worcester; Ashlee Flynn and her husband Brendan of Leominster; Myranda Canty and her husband Nick of Fitchburg. Joe had several siblings; Edward Dumas Jr. and his spouse Kate of Fitchburg; Irene Dumas Hayes of Gardner; Debra Mable and her husband Robert of Winchendon. Joe was predeceased by his brother William Elliott of Leominster. Joe also had many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Joseph was born January 27, 1963 in Fitchburg to the late Edward and Irene (Russell) Dumas. Joe attended Fitchburg High School and graduated in 1981. Joe later went on to attend Mount Wachusett Community College where he obtained an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Joe had many jobs over the years. He worked for Midtown Beef where he was a FDA meat Inspector. He worked for Seven Hills Foundation in Fitchburg as a teacher. One of Joe’s favorite job was working security at Gillette Stadium for his beloved Patriots. But the most important job that Joe had was working at Bradlees Department Store. It would be there that he would meet his wife, Pamela.
Joe enjoyed taking walks in the park, long car rides and anything politics. But the one thing that Joe loved above all else was spending time with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with all of his grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 84 Salem St. Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. There are no calling hours.
