Joseph B. McCaffrey

BERLIN ---- Joseph B. McCaffrey, 81 years old of Berlin, died Friday, June 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Joe was born November 16, 1940, in Leominster, MA. the son of Edwin C. McCaffrey and Bernice K. (Kiernan) McCaffrey. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Kelly A. McCaffrey of Lunenburg, and Shannon L. Johnson of Westminster; his 2 grandchildren Garrett and Cody Johnson both of Westminster and his sister Brenda Gilhooly.

He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Sandra J. (Penkus) McCaffrey in 2019, by his brothers Edwin C. McCaffrey and Bernard F. McCaffrey and his sister Maureen A. McCaffrey.

Joe attended St. Leo’s Parochial School and graduated from Leominster High School in 1958, and from Worcester Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. He retired from Allstate Insurance Company after 20 years, and opened McCaffrey Insurance Agency, in Lunenburg with his wife Sandy in 1989.

Joe was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enlisted in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He received the Good Conduct Badge and Expert Rifle Badge. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Leominster Rod & Gun Club, and was an avid Trap Shooter.

Calling hours for Joe will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 4~6pm in the Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster. Funeral services and burial are private.
