LEOMINSTER --- Joseph Michael Scola, 90 years old of Leominster, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph was born on December 6, 1931 in Fitchburg, MA, son of Antonio and Donatta Scola. Joseph is survived by his wife, Patricia (Barry) Scola, son, Barry Scola and his wife Kelly Scola of Leominster, daughters Becky Scola and Judy Scola both from Leominster. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda (Scola) Nisula, Joseph Gale, Sarah Scola, Michael DeNault, Timmy Gale, Tommy DeNault, and his great grandchildren, Cecilia, Camilla, Matti, and Mazi Nisula. He also leaves behind his sisters Rita (Scola) Czarkowski, and Mary (Scola) Morongell and her husband Michael. Joseph was preceded in death by his sisters Toni (Scola) Strong, Molly (Scola) Carbone, and his brother Peter Scola.

He attended Fitchburg High School, class of 1949 where he was an avid basketball and baseball player. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Upon his return home, he attended Worcester Jr. College, and began his successful career in construction, real estate, and the food and beverage industry. He enjoyed his time with family and friends, playing golf at Monoosnoc Country Club, and especially loved his time spent at both his Cape Cod and Florida homes.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Gardner Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for all the compassionate care given to Joseph & his family.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022at 11am at St. Leo’s Parish, 128 Main St. Leominster, MA.  A private burial will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
