Linda Hytinen Obituary

Linda (Fregeau) Hytinen, a resident of Shirley, MA and formerly of Leominster passed away in her home on Monday, September 23rd at the age of 81. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward W. Hytinen for 45 years. She was born in Lunenburg and was a Lunenburg High School graduate and cheerleader.

Linda was a devoted mother of three children, four grandchildren and one great grandson. She leaves behind her daughter Laura Gaudet and her husband Daniel of Bolton, MA, their children Madeline and Bryce, Madeline’s son Jackson, her son Eric Hytinen and his wife Kathleen of Leominster and their children Sophia and Max, as well as her son David Hytinen of Lancaster, MA and his life partner Christine Allard of Spokane, WA. She was predeceased by her sister Marsha Fregeau of Lunenburg and her sister Sandra Starkey and husband Don Starkey both of St. Augustine, FL. She also leaves behind her very loving and caring brother Leo (Butch) Fregeau and his partner Sue Wilson of Townsend, MA, along with her cherished nieces and nephew Rhonda Thomas, Lisa Prokowich and Rick Prokowich, their children Rebecca, Katie and family, Daniel, Dillon and his wife, and her sister-in-law Judy Hytinen and her children Greg Hytinen, Barry Hytinen and family, brother-in-law Butch Bastin and wife, as well as Indiana nephews Steve, Dean & Dennis Stephenson and their families.

Although Linda had a passion for reading books, kayaking Spec Pond, completing complex jigsaw puzzles and word games, as well as being a talented artist, nothing compared to her love of being around her children, grandchildren, great-grandson and so many other family members. She loved playing tennis and kept a lifelong friendship with the “tennis ladies” which she still met with regularly for lunch. She was also known to win her share of bowling trophies in her youth.

Linda worked at Hedstrom-Union before becoming and indispensable part of running Werner’s Sporting Goods in Leominster for many years. In her pre-retirement years, she worked in the accounting department for Digital Credit Union. She also volunteered at the Shirley Historical Society and Hazen Memorial Library.

Linda was a very strong, yet loving and caring inspiration to all of her many friends and family members. She was known for never missing a birthday (usually ahead of time) and keeping everyone and everything organized. Her generosity, bright smile, stunning blue eyes, intelligence and extremely witty personality will be missed by all, but her family takes great comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her Eddy.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Richardson Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 3, at St. Leo Parish, 108 Main St., Leominster with a burial in Evergreen Cemetery to follow.
