Leominster—Louise J. (Salafia) Gamache, 93 years old of Leominster, died Monday, December 25, 2023.
Louise was born on February 23, 1930 in Leominster MA, daughter of Francois Salafia and Angelina (Novelli) Battisti and was a lifelong resident.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Norman L. Gamache, and their seven children: sons; Kevin Gamache (Janice) of Orange, MA, Keith Gamache of Cornish, Maine and David Gamache (Karen) of Keansburg, New Jersey, and daughters; Dianne Gamache (Michael Perla) of Leominster, MA, Michelle Lattanzio (Thomas) of Princeton, MA, Mellanie Kelly (Michael) of Leominster, MA and Mellisa Hastings of Leominster, MA, two sisters, Carla LeBlanc of Leominster, MA and Catherine Hebert of Leominster, MA., and sister in law, Virginia Raymond of Winchendon, MA, fifteen grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brothers Ted Salafia, Anthony Salafia, sisters, Agatina Turbide, Victoria Elcevich, and Phyllis Battisti, and sons-in law Charles Lawlor, and Robert Hastings.
Louise worked as a matron for the Leominster Police Department for many years and as an aide at Johnny Appleseed School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster. She enjoyed spending time with family at the family home in York Beach, Maine. She also enjoyed making beautiful jewelry as well collecting antiques.
Her and Norman’s home, whether in Leominster, MA or York ME, welcomed countless family and friends through the years. There was always room for a few more to sit and enjoy good food, many laughs, and always dessert.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 29 from 5:00-7:00 P.M at Richardson Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 30 at Our Lady of the Lake Church at 11:00 A.M.
The family would like to extend many heartfelt thanks to staff at Sterling Village Nursing Home.
