Luann S. (Booth) Hume, a vibrant soul known for her creative passion and spirited nature, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 86 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Born on April 12, 1939, in Leominster, Luann's life was a canvas of love, art, and community service.
Luann's artistic journey began in the quaint town of Leominster, where she was born to Paul Booth and Thelma (Townsend) Booth. Her early life was enriched by the joys of creativity and the close bonds of family. She was a cherished sister to Charlene Aubuchon, who predeceased her. Luann's heart found its match in Leon Hume, with whom she shared many years of marriage until his passing.
A mother's love is eternal, and Luann's legacy lives on through her beloved children. She was the proud mother of two daughters, Diann Starrett of Ashland and Jayne Dandley and her husband Sean of York, Maine, and two sons, Steven Drury and his wife Andrea of Ashburnham, Derek Drury and longtime partner Jennifer Taverna of Westminster, as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her family will remember her as a beacon of inspiration and encouragement, always fostering their individual talents and dreams.
Luann's professional life was a testament to her enduring dedication to the arts. As a professional artist, her works graced various area galleries, bringing beauty and contemplation to all who viewed them. Her commitment to her craft extended beyond her own creations; she was an active and valued member of the Leominster Art Association, Maine Woman in the Arts, Maine Guild, and a former member of the Gardner Art Association. Her contributions to these organizations were not only through her artistry but also through her enthusiastic participation and support of fellow artists.
Her faith and love for community were reflected in her involvement with the Leominster United Methodist Church and, more recently, the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Luann's presence was a source of light and warmth within her church community, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Luann's life was a masterpiece of moments – each brushstroke a memory, each hue a story. Her presence was a gift to the world, one that will continue to inspire and influence future generations. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she has left on our hearts and the world around her. Luann S. (Booth) Hume will be remembered not only for the art she created but for the life she so beautifully crafted and shared with us all.
A funeral service will be held in Richardson Funeral Home on Friday, January 30 at 11:00 AM with a burial will be private.
