Lucy (Mazzola) M. Hutchinson, 95, of Leominster and West Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of 58 years to the late Richard M. Hutchinson. Loving mother of Richard M. Hutchinson Jr. and wife Ellen of Milton, Paul M. Hutchinson and wife Pamela of Leominster. Loving grandmother to Rhye Hutchinson and fiancé Connor Kelley of Hoboken, NJ., Shea (Hutchinson) and Frank Bangrazi Jr. of Leominster, Katherine Hutchinson and Emily Hutchinson of Boston, and Michael Hutchinson of Leominster.
She was predeceased by her brother, Gerardo (Gerry) Mazzola and sister, Giovanna (Jenny) Moynihan and leaves several cousins, along with her beloved niece and nephew, Mary and John Moynihan.
Lucy (Lucia) was born in Fitchburg, MA on October 19, 1927, the daughter of the late Loretto and Antonia Mazzola (Pellegrini), and lived in Leominster her entire life. She attended St. Leo School in Leominster and graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg, Class of 1945.
Lucy began her career in the business office at Union Products in Leominster, and moved into the advertising industry as executive secretary at Cooney and Conor in Worcester. In 1966, she joined the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue and spent 27 years in office administration; first at the Worcester DOR District office, and later moving to the Fitchburg office. Lucy retired from Mass DOR in 1993.
Lucy and Hutch spent many happy years in retirement at their home on Cape Cod, and traveling with the Moynihan’s on trips to Italy and Bermuda. She shared a passion for Italian cooking, sewing, and shopping at Macy’s and T.J. Maxx with her sister Jenny after swim classes. Faith in Jesus Christ and family were sacred to Lucy, and she found joy being active in the lives of her sons and all of her grandchildren. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Anna Parish, and formed many new friendships with residents and staff while living at Sunrise Senior Living of Leominster for the past 17 months.
Calling hours will be held from 5pm - 7pm on Wednesday, August 30th at the Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. A funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 31st at St. Anna Catholic Church, 199 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial to follow at St. Leo Cemetery, Leominster.
