Lynn Pierce Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynn Deidre Pierce, who left us at the age of 57 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lynn was born on November 3, 1967, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to H. Wayne Pierce and Jeani Pierce. She grew up in Liberty Boro, PA, alongside her beloved sister, Katie Pierce (Mantey), and attended South Allegheny Junior and Senior High School. From a young age, Lynn displayed an inquisitive mind and a compassionate heart—traits that defined her life’s journey. She formed lasting friendships and touched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and infectious laughter. A natural performer, she was deeply involved in theatre, most notably playing Rizzo in Grease. Her quick wit and radiant smile were known to all.

After high school, Lynn pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Educational Psychology. She was an extraordinary teacher who poured her heart into her work, making every day in the classroom an adventure. Her students adored her, and she loved them without exception, inspiring them with her enthusiasm and kindness.

While in college, Lynn met the love of her life, Michael Riesmeyer. Their love story spanned 38 beautiful years, beginning as college sweethearts and culminating in a marriage filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. They married in June 1995, and in November 1998, they welcomed their daughter, Megan Elizabeth, who became the center of Lynn’s world. In 2006, the family relocated to Leominster, MA, where Lynn continued her teaching career at Johnny Appleseed School and built a community of friendships too numerous to count.

Lynn’s greatest joy was her family. She, Mike, and Megan embraced every opportunity for adventure, exploring New England and beyond. She was an incredible mother, a devoted wife, and the heart of every family memory. Her love was boundless, extending not only to her immediate family but also to the many dear friends who became like family over the years.  She also truly loved any opportunity to spend time with the rest of her family, taking regular trips with extended family members on a regular basis.

Beyond her professional and family life, Lynn had a deep love for the arts. She was an avid reader, a passionate theatre enthusiast, and a lover of music. She participated in local theatre, sang in church choirs, and cherished any opportunity to see a live performance—instilling that same passion in her daughter. She was also dedicated to her community, serving for years as a Girl Scout leader and mentor, helping young girls develop confidence and life skills.

Lynn was a light in the world—a truly good human being who brought out the best in everyone around her. Her laughter was infectious, her spirit adventurous, and her kindness unmatched. Even in the face of four cancer diagnoses, she met every challenge with unwavering strength and grace. She fought with the heart of a lion, determined to spend as much time as possible with the people she loved. Even on her toughest days, she maintained her trademark smile and laughter, a testament to her resilience and unbreakable spirit. When the time came to say goodbye, she left this world surrounded by her family and their love, knowing that she had made an indelible impact on everyone she met.

Lynn leaves behind her devoted husband, Michael, her cherished daughter, Megan, her sister Katie (Joe) Mantey and niece Jackie Mantey.  She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Andrea Riesmeyer, and many other family members. Lynn was preceded in death by her father, H. Wayne Pierce and her mother Jeani Pierce.

A private family viewing will be held, followed by a funeral mass at 11am on Wednesday, February 19th at Our Lady of the Lake Church 1400 Main St Leominster, MA.
