Maureen (Terry) T. Andrews
Templeton, MA
Jan. 28, 1949 – Jan. 15, 2024
Terry passed away at UMass Memorial hospital, following a recent illness and short period spent in hospice care.
After graduating from Narragansett Regional High School in 1967, Terry worked as an aide at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home where she met her lifelong partner, George C. Andrews. She was one of 6 children born to Emile and Josephine Smith, of Fitchburg, MA. She was predeceased by her brother Emil Leon (Leo), and her sisters Barbara Ann, and Cynthia Jones of Fitchburg. She leaves behind her brother, William (Bill) Smith, and his wife Laura of Templeton, MA, as well as her sister Margaret Putnam, and her husband Frank of Oklahoma.
After starting a family, Terry remained a homemaker for many years. She took her role as a parent seriously, and kept busy coaching, teaching, being a scout leader, and taking her family camping, all while raising her 4 children. They are Tracie Andrews, of Northampton, MA, Geneta Rose-MacLean and her husband Kevin, of Fitchburg, George Andrews II, who passed in 2004, and Todd Andrews, of Inverness, FL.
Terry was also active in her church for many years as a religious education director and teacher, and eucharistic minister. She enjoyed attending bible study and prayer groups.
As her children grew, Terry returned to school and worked her way up to obtaining a master’s degree of Education in Counseling Psychology in the fall of 1991. She then went back to school, working as a professor at Mount Wachusett Community College for several years. Terry taught Introduction to Psychology, Psychology of Self, and Psychology of Death and Dying, among others. She was loved by peers and students alike.
As the years went on, Terry continued her journey of learning and enhanced her spiritual growth by attending the Seminary. In June of 2003, she became an Interfaith Minister. She also dove into the learning of energy work, became a Reiki Master and, in 2004, opened the ARA wellness center alongside her best friend, MaryAnne (Mannie) Keefe.
Although she enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, like reading, writing, coloring mandalas, and puzzles, Terry’s biggest love was her family. Terry leaves behind many loved ones, including her granddaughters Rebecca Pedbrazani and her partner Tyler, Elizabeth Rose and her husband Michael Duncan, and Rachael and Nicholas Wilson. Lastly, her newest loves, great grandchildren Ava, Lily, Oliver, Winston, and Alistair, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Terry’s love for others overflowed in every conversation she had, and in every hug she gave - and she gave a lot! She will be missed by so many.
Calling hours are Friday, February 2, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 Noon at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Baldwinville.
