Mae Lucier Tabora Obituary

Leominster- Mae T. (Fontaine) Lucier Tabora, 94, left us peacefully for Heaven to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 27 at Benchmark Assisted Living at Leominster Crossing. She felt blessed and thankful to be there every day. She loved the food and said, “this place is top notch”.

She was born May 21, 1927 in Leominster, daughter of the late Charles and Yvonne Fontaine and granddaughter of the late Frank and Lillian Fontaine and William and Annie Leger. She attended Leominster Public Schools. She was married October 6, 1945 to Francis W. Lucier at St. Cecilia’s Church. Frank, a firefighter, WWII veteran and survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, passed away February 23, 1970. While residing in Leominster from 1945-1968, worked downtown at Rubin’s Clothing Store. Moved to Sebring, Florida 1968-1970. She married Benigno G. Tabora on September 21, 1975 at Heritage Chapel, Ft. Devens, and resided half the Winter months in Leesburg. Benigno passed away February 17, 2008 and was a WWII veteran and survivor of the Bataan Death March. Lived at BSL at Leominster Crossing June 1, 2019 to July 27, 2021.

Mae was a kind, thoughtful, compassionate and loving person and talents were many. She had a love for crocheting and sewing, making many outfits for her girls. She loved flowers and making floral arrangements and enjoyed gardening, dancing, swimming, walking the mall and special shopping with her best friend, Minnie. She also loved painting and produced many that will always be cherished. She had great respect and appreciation for our veterans and other public servants, often making generous donations to help in any way possible. You are an inspiration to so many and will be dearly missed.

Mom’s favorite sayings she would always share with us (and you I suspect): 1. Seize the moment in your life. 2. The past is history- the future is a mystery- the present is now. Take what it gives you. 3. Think 1,000 times and once more. 4. If I could sum up my life, that I have had in one word, I would say, “WOW”.

She leaves her daughters, Linda Foss and Gail Lucier; grandchildren, Sondra Tillinghast and husband, Jay, Racquel Mullen, Monica St. Pierre, Shannon J. Neves, Jacob Leger, Amber Leger, William C. Foss and Autumn L. Foss; great grandchildren, Carly Rose Tillinghast, Kyle Connors, Michael Diforte, Rylie J. Leger, Mariah, Kailey, Jessenia, Isiah, Zoey, Adden, Alex and Jason; great great granddaughters, Baylee and Violet Diforte; step daughters, Cara Chisholme, Merlene Baker-Tabora;, step son, Elden Tabora; step grandchildren, Scott, Tracey, Kevin, Joseph, Kimberlee, Sherry and Jacqueline; step great grandchildren, Ryan, Shannon, Chloe, Zoe, Emilee, Alexandra, Trent William III, Jake and Ashlee; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was predeceased by stepson, Napolean Tabora, step grandchildren, Keith, Christopher and Francesca and nephew, James Fontaine.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 12, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. A celebration will follow in the Leominster Veteran’s Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leominster Veterans Center, 100 West St., Leominster, MA 01453.
