Marcella F. (Longeri) Cloutier

LEOMINSTER—Marcella F. (Longeri) Cloutier, 97 years old of Leominster, died Thursday, July 28th, 2022, at River Terrace Healthcare in Lancaster.  Family and friends knew her as “Rachel”.

Marcella was born April 6th, 1925, in Fitchburg, MA, daughter of Primo & Gina (Fuppiani) Longeri, and came to Leominster many years ago. She leaves three daughters, Judith A. Duval and her husband Douglas of Lunenburg, Jennifer L. Haley of Leominster and her late husband Michael D. Haley in 2015, and Jayne B. Mahan of Shirley, three grandchildren Jeffrey Vaillette of Leominster, Amanda Moser and Nicholas Vaillette both of Florida, eight great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Marlowe, Miles, Reid, Rhett, Alexa, Andrew and Ariana and her sister Josephine Bouvier of Leominster, and several nieces and a nephew.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Alfred D. Cloutier in 2012, three sisters, Mary Longeri, Annetta Pluker and Margaret Remal.

Marcella was a 1943 Gold F Graduate of Fitchburg High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at the family business, Bourbeau’s Market in Leominster, along with her sisters, Margaret and Josephine.  She was a fundraiser for the Foster Wing Drive at Leominster Hospital, was very active in the Julie Country Day PTA, and was a founding member of Holy Family of Nazareth Church in Leominster, working in the church office and volunteering at all the church functions and activities. After raising her children, she went back to work as a bookkeeper for Highland Rice, Wiltec, Inc. and retiring from Basque Plastics at the age of 77.

Rachel was kind, generous and always willing to help others. She loved spending time with all her family, whether for a home cooked meal on a Sunday, a holiday dinner, or an afternoon cookout at her pool. Her favorite relaxation was flower gardening.

A funeral mass for Marcella will be held on Friday August 12th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union St., Leominster.  Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg.  There are no calling hours. One hour prior to services, the family will be in the vestibule for condolences.
