Marcia Schutt Obituary

Marcia Ann (Lowe) Schutt passed away peacefully on April 1. 2025 at the Sterling Village Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sterling, Massachusetts after a long and happy life. Marcia was born on September 15, 1932 and was raised in Leominster, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of John and Florence (Richardson) Lowe and the youngest sibling of John and Charles Lowe who predeceased her. Marcia is a 1950 graduate of Leominster High School and a graduate from Leominster Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1953. Marcia met her husband Edward Schutt in 1952 when he was stationed aboard the USS Salem located in Boston and while she was doing nursing rotations at Massachusetts General Hospital. They married in 1954 and celebrated the birth of their eldest child Holly Jean (Schutt) Visco.  After moving to Buffalo, New York where they remained for a few years, Marcia and Edward’s family grew with the addition of three sons, Jeffrey, Roger and Eric.

Marcia, Ed and their family returned to Leominster in 1961 where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Edward and Marcia were married for 57 years until Ed passed in 2011. Marcia is survived by her children, Holly (Schutt) Visco and her husband Leonard Visco, Jeffrey Schutt and his wife Patricia Schutt, Roger Schutt and his wife Reuki Schutt, Eric Schutt and his wife Ivy Schutt and her many grandchildren, Jessica Schutt, Andrew Schutt and his partner Alex, Alicia Visco and her fiancé Dave, Annaliessa Visco and her partner Craig, Premela Deck and her husband Christopher, Anjali Bayliss and her husband Matthew, Sarojini Schutt and her partner Matthew, Louise Vetter and her husband Scott, and Erik Leavitt and his wife, Stephanie. Marcia is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ezra Leavitt, Meera Leavitt, Emily Vetter, Gideon Deck, Evander Deck and Keira Bayliss. Marcia is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Marcia will lovingly be remembered as a considerate person who prioritized caring for others, including her parents, her children and as a nurse working at Leominster Hospital and area nursing facilities. Marcia, an avid reader, was quick with a smile and a hug and she was always one to appreciate the best attributes in everyone she met. Marcia was active in the United Methodist Church of Leominster and enjoyed being the social secretary, as she placed great value on family and friends. In this role, she sent cards and messages to members of the congregation, for years.

Marcia’s loved ones will sadly miss her warm smile, hugs and kisses but we are happy in knowing that she has gone “home” to join her husband whom she so deeply loved and missed after his passing.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14 at 11:00 A.M. at Leominster United Methodist Church, 77 Hall St., Leominster. A calling hour in the church will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with a burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
