Margaret R. (Picucci) Marro

Margaret R. (Picucci) Marro, 95, passed peacefully into the arms of God, surrounded by the love of her brother, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, on July 13, 2026.

Born on November 4, 1930, in Leominster, Massachusetts, to Giuseppe and Concetta (Lombardy) Picucci, Margaret, known to most as Peggy, was one of twelve children and remained close to her eleven siblings throughout her life; family gatherings with them were among her greatest joys.

She came of age as Leominster transformed into the nationally known "Pioneer Plastics City," its old comb shops giving way to celluloid and plastics manufacturing built in part by immigrant families like her own. A proud Leominster native, she graduated from Leominster High School and always considered Leominster her true and beloved home.

She met her husband, Carmine, near the end of World War II. After marrying, they spent several wonderful years in the Bronx, New York, where Peggy was welcomed with open arms into Carmine's family and grew to love them dearly. She also worked during that time just across the street from Macy's on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, one of her favorite jobs. She and Carmine later returned to Leominster, where they settled and raised their family in the home that remains the family home to this day. Peggy was an amazing and loyal friend, a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

Back in Leominster, Peggy and Carmine both went to work at Tucker Housewares, where she remained until the company closed its doors; she was one of the last ones to turn out the lights there. Her Tucker Housewares family became a treasured part of her life; she loved each and every one of them.

She was a devoted member of St. Anna's Church in Leominster, where she served on the parish council and was always ready to volunteer for parish events. Her devotion to Mary was an inspiration to her family.

She loved browsing the stores, attending church events, spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoying the warmth of the sun or a mild breeze, sitting with friends at the local coffee shop, and dining out with her sisters Rosie or Theresa.

After Tucker's closed, she went on to work for many more years as an aide in the Leominster school system, looking after the children in her care. It became a common sight for her former students, now grown adults, to run up to her out of nowhere, exclaiming "Miss Peggy!", often followed by a very big hug.

A commanding presence, she gravitated toward leadership roles wherever she worked or volunteered, and that same strength showed in her loyalty to family and friends, as she was always the first one there when needed.

Her husband, Carmine, predeceased her in 1988; after thirty-eight years apart, she is now reunited with him.

She leaves her children, Anthony M. Marro and his wife Susan (Wilson-Marro), and Matthew S. Marro and his wife Irene (DeCosta); her grandchildren, Sarah Marro and her fiancé Brad Lagace, Christina Marro and her fiancé David Azoulay, Amanda Hoy and her husband Joshua, Michael Marro, Jeremy Marro, Jessica Marro, Lori Hannon and her husband Jeff, Eric Lamoureux, Adam Lamoureux and his wife Melissa, Ashley Nicastro and her husband Matt, and Kyle Wilson and his wife Krystal; and her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Lilianna, Ava Jane, Dominic, Aiden, Drue, David, Ryan, Lucas, Kayla, Kenzi, and Aria. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life; she was always a presence for them, whether at a milestone event or simply baking treats for them or holding them on her lap to read a story.

She also leaves her brother, Richard Picucci of Leominster; her former daughter-in-law, Joellen Marro, who remained dear to her heart; her brother-in-law, Joseph Marro; her sister-in-law, Dara Lynn Marro; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; and her cherished Tucker Housewares family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carmine; her sisters, Rose Carbone, Raphaella Picucci, Anna Coughlin, Theresa Culley, and Marion Carluccio; and her brothers, Angelo Picucci, Carmine Picucci, Joseph Picucci, Louis Picucci, and Anthony Picucci.

Her family would like to thank the staff at The Highlands for their loving care, and Dr. Kamens for his passionate dedication to our beloved mother's well-being.

We are thankful her passing was peaceful, with no pain, surrounded by the love of her family.

Her two sons were the luckiest men on this earth to have her as their mother. We will miss you every day, Mom. Say hi to Dad for us.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 23 in Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St., from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 24 at Holy Family Church, 75 Union St., Leominster at 11:00 AM with a burial to follow in St. Leo Cemetery.
