Maria (Ortiz) Albizu

LEOMINSTER---Maria ("Helen") Albizu passed into the presence of the Lord, April 15, 2023, at the age of 82 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA.

Helen, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and her parents were Miguel Ortiz and Mariana Rivera. During her later years she lived in Leominster, MA. She is survived by her brothers, Rosin, Pedro and Manolo, her children, Rosa, Marta, Jaqueline, Cecilia, Mary, Anthony and Jerry who will remember her with much love. She was predeceased by her sons, Miguel and Harry, and her husband, Angel Albizu of 65 years, in 2018.

Helen worked for Rand & Whitney for over 15 years. Her passion was to collect ceramic dolls, listen to Latin music and cook delicious native Puerto Rican dishes for her family and friends. Disney World in Florida was her favorite vacation spot. Every Sunday she attended Mass at St Francis of Assisi Church, in Fitchburg.

Helen, as everyone knew her, will be remembered for her great heart, her love for others, her humility and her sweet sense of humor.

Friends and family will gather to honor and remember Maria on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 4~7p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St. Fitchburg MA; at 11am. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster MA.
