Maria Sousa Obituary

On May 9th, 2024 Maria Isabel Dos Reis Sousa, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully surrounded by her family.

Born February 18th, 1946 in Santana, Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of Julio Reis and Ana Resendes, Maria Sousa led a life filled with love, dedication, and kindness. She cherished her family above all, devoting herself tirelessly to her husband, children, and grandchildren. For the majority of her career, she operated and managed a grocery store, becoming a well-known and respected figure in her community. She concluded her professional life as a seamstress, embracing her passion for craftsmanship and design.

Maria Isabel Sousa is survived by her loving husband, Manuel Sousa; children Manuel Antonio Sousa; Luis Sousa and his wife Dorabela Sousa, along with their children Debora, Dorabela, Kayla, and Luis Jr.; and Mario Sousa and his wife Meghan Sousa, with their children Mario Jr., Brianna, Jackson, and Payton.

Her legacy of love, perseverance, and grace will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. Her wisdom, warmth, and nurturing nature will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Maria`s funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 15th from the Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster, with a funeral mass at 11am at St. Anna Church, 194 Lancaster St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, May 14, from 5 ~ 7pm.
