Mary was born in Paterson, New Jersey in 1936 to Louise (Hudson) and George F. Myers and called Vermont home from the time she was 4 years old. She lost her parents at a young age and was raised by a caring aunt and uncle, William and Imogene Hudson. She found her voice when she attended Clarke School for the Deaf of Northampton, MA where she also met her husband Robert at age 15. She graduated from Clarke School in 1955 and went on to graduate from Northfield School for Girls in 1958 and Chandler School for Women in 1959. After marrying Robert, she lived in Leominster for most of her life. Although raising her family was her favorite job, she also worked at Leominster Hospital Central Service for a number of years. She was active in the deaf community as a member of the New England Deaf Senior Citizens and the Clarke School Alumni Association. She was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster.
Mary was a talented artist from a young age in many areas including painting, sewing, quilting and crafts and enjoyed creating art and other works for family and friends. She enjoyed being active her entire life, skiing and skating in her younger days and taking long walks in the later years. She shared her husband’s love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and loved to travel, seated behind him as they took many trips up and down the east coast to visit family and friends. In her retirement, she especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's theatre and sporting events. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her children and grandchildren, baking cookies and brownies from scratch for all occasions, visiting with her friends and creating scrapbooks of her family’s adventures and accomplishments. Mary was a wonderful friend to many who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Mary’s caregiver, Sherie Kirouac for her wonderful care during the last year of her life.
