Mary Ann Brassard Obituary

Mary Ann (O’Leary) Brassard, 78 of Leominster, formally of Cranston, R.I. passed away after an illness. She was born in July 9, 1946 to Dr. James O’Leary and Lucy (McGovern) O’Leary.

Mary Ann graduated from Cranston High School East and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital School of Nursing. After moving to Leominster in 1973 she left nursing in 1975 to devote her time to raising her children. She returned to nursing and worked at Leominster High School from 1985 to 1992. She then worked for the next 20 years as the nurse for MOC Head Start, retiring after 20 years. She was also a Wellness Nurse at Sunrise Assisted Living for 8 1/2 years.

Mary Ann enjoyed traveling to Maine, Ireland and Bermuda. With many frequent trips back home to Rhode Island. She also enjoyed skiing trips to Vermont and New Hampshire with her extended family.

Mary Ann enjoyed cooking and baking and always had a request for her potatoes and cakes at the holidays.

Leaves her beloved husband at 52 years Frederick Brassard and two sons James Brassard of Fitchburg and Dr. Christopher Brassard and wife, Tara Treacy of Frederick, Maryland. She also leaves 5 Grandchildren Allie, Madie, Khloe, Sam and Leo as well as a great grandson Ryder, her sister-in-law Jeanne (Ellis) O’Leary of West Warwick, R.I, many nieces and nephews and her cousin Robert McGovern of Cranston R.I. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother James A. O’Leary.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 6 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM at Holy Family of Nazareth Church with a Mass to follow at 11 AM.

Burial will be at a later date at the Winchendon Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
