Maureen Angelini Obituary

Longtime resident of Leominster, MA, Maureen Catherine Patricia (Kerrigan) Angelini, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Born on November 30, 1932 in Fall River, MA, Maureen was the daughter of Richard and Catherine (Cyr) Kerrigan.  She was in the first graduating class of Mount Saint Mary’s Academy, Fall River, MA (1950), graduated with a B.S. from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA (1954) and later pursued a M.S. at Southern Methodist University (1963).  She and Joseph Anthony Angelini (formerly of Clinton, MA) were married on April 16, 1955.  The true loves of each other’s lives, Maureen and Joseph raised four beautiful children and enjoyed being grandparents to seven grandchildren.

Maureen was a retired science teacher from the Leominster Public School System, finishing her career teaching high school biology, chemistry, and earth science.  Along with being an avid geologist at heart and a world traveler, she was a dependable volunteer at Sholan Farms.  She was most happy to say that she and Joseph were able to provide each of their four children with a college education so that they could become the successful adults they are today.

Maureen, a devoted mother, is survived by two sons, John S. Angelini and his fiancée Janelle Hill of Fitchburg, MA and Robert G. Angelini and his wife Daryl of Bedford, NH; two daughters, Karen T. and her husband John Itner of St. Johns, FL, and Dr. Eileen M. Angelini, Ph.D. and her husband Robert C. O’Malley of Porter Corners, NY; seven grandchildren: John’s children Zachary and Gina Angelini; Robert’s sons Joseph and Nicholas Angelini; Karen’s sons Kevin and Bryan Itner; and Eileen’s daughter Maureen C. O’Malley; two sisters, Dorothy (Kerrigan) Biltcliffe of Fall River, MA, and Gail (Kerrigan) Carey of Swansea, MA; and her cousin Fr. William F. Cyr of Adams, MA.  Maureen was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Angelini; her sister Joan M. (Kerrigan) Vermette and her brother R. Michael Kerrigan.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Elliot Hospital (Manchester, NH) and the Arbors of Bedford (Bedford, NH) for their support in Maureen’s final days.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11 am in St. Leo’s Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. There are no calling hours.
