Melford Austin Obituary

LUNENBURG--- Melford T. “Mel” Austin, 60 years old of Lunenburg, passed away peacefully at home after a short, but brave battle with cancer on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

Mel was born January 25, 1961, in Fitchburg MA. the son of Melford and Marion (Ogilvie) Austin and was raised in Fitchburg MA.

Mel is survived by his wife Darlene A. (Tardiff) Austin of Leominster, his daughters: Heather Austin-Rickart, and her husband Daniel Rickert of Adams, MA, and Jennifer Heredia and her husband Sigfredo Heredia of Leominster MA. his sisters; Donna Eastman & Ethel Couture, his grandsons: Tyler Carter of Jaffrey NH and Kyle Sharp of Adams MA, his granddaughters: Kelsey Rickart of Adams MA, and Shelton Carter of Gardner MA; and his bonus Son: Michael Carter and his wife Jennifer Carter of Gardner MA.

He was pre-deceased by his sisters: Linda Blanchard, Evelyn Mead, Lois Haase (who passed on the day after 12/19/21), Carol Ann Austin and his brother Melford W. Austin.

Mel always had a kind soul. He was a very supporting husband and father, always

making sure everyone was taken care of and was there to support his children’s dreams. He would help anyone he could,and would never think twice. He was a compassionate pet owner, rescuing or adopting many cats and dogs over the years. He was known for his beautiful fish tank that he took much pride in. He was an avid hockey fan playing DEK hockey in his youth and always rooting for the Boston Bruins. He was a great candle pin bowler, on a league for many years at Masons Bowling Alley in Leominster. He had a lifelong love for music and southern rock. He loved cook outs and camping.
