Michael J. Mullaney, a cherished father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 60.
Michael was a Carl S. Ell scholar and summa cum laude graduate of Northeastern University where he earned his civil engineering degree. Upon graduating, Michael served as a field engineer at The Mullaney Corporation. Next, he began his career as a design engineer at McKenzie Engineering, Inc. where he worked for thirty-seven years, eventually becoming Vice President. At McKenzie he worked under the direction of company president Peter M. Reynolds, his mentor and dear friend who he respected greatly.
Over the course of his career, Michael performed a vast number of projects ranging in size and scope for clients in both the private and public sector. He made positive impacts in the local community while serving the City of Leominster as Clerk of the Works on both the Leominster Public Library expansion and renovation project and the Johnny Appleseed school additions project.
Above all else Michael was a terrific dad in countless ways. One of his fondest memories was coaching his son’s youth basketball team, participating in their Tae Kwon Doe classes, and more. Michael enjoyed golfing, time with family and friends, and relished competing in road races and triathlons.
Michael was predeceased by his daughter Angela M. Mullaney, parents Richard J. and Assunta Rose Mullaney, paternal grandparents James T. Sr and Mary E. Mullaney, and his maternal grandparents Stefano and Madeline Simeone.
