Michael Sardelis Obituary

Michael G. Sardelis, a pillar of the Leominster community, passed away surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 74. Michael was born on August 16, 1950 in Leominster, the son of the late George and Sadie (Pignata) Sardelis.

Mike graduated from Leominster High School, where he was an outstanding baseball player, and his love for the Blue Devils continued throughout his life. Mike was best known around town as the proud, long-time owner of Twins’ Café.

Family was the cornerstone of Mike’s life. He was a devoted partner to his loving companion of 26 years, Norma Cote. Together they shared a life full of love, laughter and unwavering support. Mike was a proud father to his son, Mitchell Sardelis and his partner Lexie, as well as a loving second father to his son Pat O’Malley and daughter Meghan Bazillion (O’Malley) and her husband Cory. There was nothing he cherished more than his grandchildren – Ezra, Myles, Olive, Avery, Sawyer, Wesley, Lennon and Kinsley. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to support them, brag about them, or simply sit and share a laugh. Whether it was a game, recital or school event, he showed up with love in his heart and a smile on his face. Mike also leaves behind his brother Teddy Sardelis and his wife Linda, and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his brother Christos and sisters, Connie and Maria, as well as his beloved dog, Sadie.

Mike’s love for sports was a thread that ran through his life. As an umpire for youth baseball and softball, and a referee for youth football, he played a pivotal role in fostering the love of the game and sportsmanship among countless young athletes. His passion extended beyond the field, as he often could be found on the golf course, enjoying a game of darts or a peaceful day of fishing or gardening. There will never be another quite like Mike. He was outspoken, sharp-witted and never afraid to speak his mind. His voice may be silent now, but his stories, his laughter, and his fierce love will echo in our lives forever.
