Muriel M. (Richard) Paquin, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, at the age of 91 in her hometown of Leominster, Massachusetts. Born on December 8, 1932, to Lionel and Marie (Brideau) Richard, Muriel was a lifelong resident of Leominster, where she cultivated a life rich in family, friendship, and community service.
Muriel's early years were spent at St. Cecilia's School, followed by graduation from Leominster High School. She furthered her education by attending Secretarial School, equipping her with skills that would prove valuable throughout her life. As a young woman, Muriel worked on the Richard Dairy Farm, an experience that instilled in her a profound appreciation for hard work and dedication.
Muriel's career path eventually led her to the Leominster Hospital's Billing Department, where she was known for her efficiency and warm demeanor. Her professional life, however, was just one facet of her vibrant existence. Muriel was the quintessential "neighborhood mom," whose door was always open to the children of the community. She was actively involved in the PTA, served as a girl scout leader, and was a reliable and generous neighbor.
Her creative spirit shone brightly through her painting and crafts, and she found joy in square dancing and beachcombing. Muriel's zest for life was infectious, and she could often be found leading water aerobics classes or organizing local activities. Her contributions to the George Street Activities and the garden center with Cheryl were cherished by all who worked alongside her. Muriel was a pillar of St. Mark's Church, where she devoted her time to the Church Store and Luncheons, leaving a legacy of service and compassion.
Above all, Muriel was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Bonnie Thomas and her husband John of Nova Scotia, Canada, and Denise Hart and her husband Roger of Leominster, MA. Muriel's legacy continues through her four grandchildren, Erin MacDonald and her partner DonAllen, Lori Fraser and her husband Christopher, Travis Hart and his wife Kristine, and Candice DeFelice and her husband Mark; and her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Emmah, Dylan, Lincoln, Logan, and Syris.
Muriel was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Paquin, in 1996, her parents, and her siblings, Eugene Richard, Paul Richard, and Constance Duval. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
Muriel's life was a testament to the power of love and the impact one person can have on so many. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Muriel embodied this sentiment through her loving, friendly, and selfless nature, touching the hearts of everyone she encountered.
Even in her final years, Muriel's indomitable spirit never waned. She remained the most pleasant and smiling presence in the nursing home, a source of joy and inspiration to residents and staff alike. Her family and friends are convinced that heaven is indeed celebrating her arrival, as her spirit continues to radiate warmth and kindness.
As we mourn the loss of Muriel M. Paquin, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her strength and determination to set a good example have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Muriel's love and friendship were gifts to the world, making it a better place for her having been here.
We, her loving family, invite you to join us in honoring the memory of a truly extraordinary woman. Muriel's life was a beautiful journey of giving, and we are all better for having been a part of her story. May her legacy of love and service continue to inspire us all.
