Lunenburg--Oswald Lawrence Haney Jr., 92, of Lunenburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 5th after a short battle with an illness.
Oswald Jr. was born the third of twelve children on April 16th, 1930 to Oswald Haney Sr. and Gertrude Keaton in Caribou, ME.
After leaving home to work in Connecticut, he met his sweetheart Mae Bessette in 1951. They moved back to Caribou before being wed in 1952. The two went on to have their first son David in Caribou. Thereafter, the family moved to Massachusetts and settled in Fitchburg, while Oz built the family home in Lunenburg. In 1957, the family welcomed their second son Daniel.
Oz went on to work several jobs as a mechanic at Flynn's Gas Station and a paper mill worker at Burbank Paper Co. (later James River Paper) before retiring in 1988.
Oz enjoyed traveling, playing cards, spending time outdoors, having cookouts, and always tinkering with something around the house.
Oswald is survived by his lovely wife Mae, son Daniel, granddaughters Erica and Nicole, grandsons Matthew, Nathan, Jason, and Joshua, his sisters Nina, Gloria, and Linda, as well as his great grand children Catherine, Quincy, Gavin, Harper, Mae and Jackson.
He was predeceased by his son David Haney.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 at Richardson Funeral Home with a Time of Remembrance at 5:00.
