Otis Colburn Sr. Obituary

Otis “Odie“ Carl Colburn Sr 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his home in Lunenburg, Ma on February 18th 2023.
Born on January 6th, 1935, Odie was the son of the late Olga (Loving ) Colburn and Otis F. Colburn. Odie was also predeceased by both his brothers Russell Colburn and Frank Colburn. His daughter Cindy L Colburn Brady and his son Corey J Colburn. What a reunion in Heaven that was when Odie joined his children.

Odie was a hard worker and a great provider. Odie worked many years at James River Papermill in Fitchburg till the company moved out of state. He then transitioned to Pepperell Papermill for many more years .

Odie was a loving and dedicated father “Daddy-O”, husband , grandfather “Pappy “, uncle ,Godfather, father-in-law, brother -in-law and friend. Odie’s jokey fun sense of humor will be greatly missed. Odie was well known for his “birthday” serenades in which he was able to bless his loved ones with all the way up to just days before going to his eternal home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Odie loved spending time with his family. He attended all celebrations. He went to his grandchildren’s local sporting events. He pridefully accompanied loved ones to Doctor appointments. He loved going camping. He loved traveling, especially to Tennessee to visit family. Going to the casino with family he did often. Odie was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and he loved talking about the game. Odie could always be counted on for a phone call to check in on his loved ones and always ended the call with “ love you all”.
Odie would often be found “sightseeing“ on the front porch of his home or enjoying the sun on the deck of the pool out back. Odie faithfully walked on his treadmill every morning and faithfully placed flowers and flags at his loved ones gravesites.

Odie leaves behind his son, Otis C Colburn Jr, his daughter Vicki L Spadafore (Dave), his daughter Jodie L Vezina (Chris), Kevin O’Kane and Shawn Maxwell who “dad” openly and lovely took under his care and considered them sons. Besides his children Odie also leaves 19 grandchildren, 7 great-children and many special nieces and nephews .

Odie’s children are planning a celebration of life for family and close friends on March 18th 12:00-3:00 at the Bull Run on 215 Great Rd Shirley, Ma.
