Peter A. Drury “Pete” “Retep” passed away at the age of 86 on May 19, 2024.
Pete was born in Leominster, MA on April 25, 1938. His parents, Gardner and Ruth Drury, as well as his wife Sandra (Burns) Drury preceded him in death.
Pete’s lifetime love of all sports began when he was a child. He played for the Leominster High School football team, was first to arrive at his grandchildren’s games and never missed a Bruins, Red Sox or Patriot’s game. After graduating from Leominster High School in 1956, Pete joined the United States Marine Corps. When his service was complete, he returned home to Leominster and grew a family while working for Foster Grant then Boston Gas Company.
One of Pete’s hobbies was gardening. His tomato gardens were incredible every year. His sense of humor combined with his ability to speak backwards brought laughter and smiles to all of those who witnessed it. Pete enjoyed listening to music, helping others, eating chocolate, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his brother William Drury of Bonita Springs, FL, his six children Diann Starrett, Jayne Dandley, Kathleen Acker, John Sylvester, Steven Drury and Derek Drury along with his eight grandchildren Erinn, Michael, Melissa, Kayla, Steven, Emily, Jarryd, Mariah and five great grandchildren Felix, Chase, Olive, Paisley, and Charlie.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at the Richardson Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. with a service to follow at 1:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Eliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation, 168 West Central Street, Natick, MA 01760.
