Rashard Maurice Perkins, Sr. lost his battle with addiction and died of an overdose on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in Waldoboro, ME. Rashard was born on February 12, 1985, in Fitchburg, MA. He and his sister, Tonjaleca, were adopted and raised by James and Cathy Perkins in Leominster, MA.
Rashard attended Leominster schools, where he enjoyed being part of the Culinary Arts Program at the Center for Technical Education and played football for the Leominster High Blue Devils. He relocated to central Maine, where he met Ashley and started a family. Although they eventually separated, their strong friendship endured, and Ashley remained one of his greatest sources of support. Rashard loved being a father and took great pride in his boys. Charismatic and funny, he treasured his family and friends. He proudly became a barber in 2019; a career he truly enjoyed. Rashard worked to overcome addiction, making efforts to turn his life around, but sadly, the disease won, leaving profound loss and sadness in those who cared for him.
Rashard is survived by his beloved boys, Rashard Jr. and Marcus, and their mother, Ashley. He also leaves his partner of the past few years, Taylor. His siblings: Tonjaleca, Amy, Jessica, Ryan, Jeremy, Dustin, Melissa, Haley, Mary, Anna, Johnathan, Malica, Tyreece, Erik, and Troy. His birth parents, Richard and Tonya. He also leaves an army of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
Rashard will be privately laid to rest with parents, Jim and Cathy, and sister, Melissa, at Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster, MA.
All are welcome and encouraged to respectfully attend a wake on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 5 to 8pm at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St, Leominster, MA, with a remembrance hour to begin at 6:30pm.
