LEOMINSTER ----- Raymond F. Regan, Jr. 65 years old of Leominster, died October 25, 2016, in Athol Hospital from injuries sustained from being struck by a train while hunting.
Ray was born November 14, 1950 in Dracut a son of Raymond F. Regan, Sr., and Jeannette (Roy) Regan. He grew up in Dracut and Lowell before moving to Leominster 40 years ago.
He leaves his son Phillip J. Regan of Leominster, a daughter Jessica Pierce and her husband Jeremy of Sterling, 5 brothers, Kevin Regan and his wife Deborah of Pelham NH, Gary Regan and his wife Pat of Pelham NH, Kenneth Regan and his wife Denise of Pelham NH, Bryan Regan of Dracut, David Regan and his wife Patty of Hudson NH, 4 sisters, Gail Tangard and her husband Don of Dracut, Sharon McCabe and her husband George of Pelham NH, Diane Chisholm and her husband Barry of Greenville SC, Pamela Anderson and her husband Holmes of Atkinson NH, stepmother Maureen Regan of Lowell, many nephews and nieces, and his grandchildren Jocelyn and Julian Pierce. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Regan.
Ray graduated from Dracut High School in the Class of 1968, and attended Mount Wachusett Community College. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1968 - 1972, aboard the USS New Orleans. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. He worked as a concrete finisher at Desjardins Company in Dracut, and also owned and operated Artistic Taxidermy in Leominster. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed hiking, was a member of Leominster Sportsman’s Club, and loved all New England sports, especially the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:30 am at the Bethany Bible Chapel, 727 Spring Street, Winchendon. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 1st from 5 pm - 8 pm in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leominster Sportsmen’s Club, 1455 Elm Street, Leominster MA 01453
