Fitchburg- Richard E. "Duke" Ducharme, 94, of Fitchburg, died Sunday, July 11, at UMass Memorial Clinton Hospital.
Richard was born January 31, 1927, in Leominster, son of the late George and the late Annette (Allard) Ducharme. Richard served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a tractor trailer driver for Branch Motor Express Company for 37 years before retiring. He was an avid hunter which he shared with his sons and good friends. He also loved the game of golf and enjoyed playing with his grandson, Jason or with his son-in-law.
He was a member of the Leominster Sportsman Club.
Richard leaves his wife of 72 years, Georgette (Nault) Ducharme; three sons, Kenneth Ducharme and wife, Kathy of Leominster, Robert Ducharme and wife, Brenda of St. Matthews, SC and Alan Ducharme and wife, Eileen of Minns, FL; one daughter, Alice Pelletier and husband, Peter of Fitchburg; daughter-in-law, Tami Ducharme, wife of the late John Ducharme; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Annette Nutting of Leominster; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, John Ducharme and Richard Ducharme and two grandsons, Jason Ducharme and William L. Wallace IV.
