Robert F. Cross, 77 years old, of Leominster passed away on Sunday, February 4 at UMASS Medical Center University Campus in Worcester, MA after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Leominster on July 3, 1946, to Francis and Irene (Richard) Cross. He was a graduate of Leominster High School class of 1964. He was employed by Foster Grant, PDC, M A Hanna and Poly One as an inside sales representative. While serving in the US Air Force, he met and married his wife, Noy, and they were married for 55 years. 

He leaves behind his wife, Noy, his daughter, Michelle Krieger and husband, Jeff of Portland, Oregon, his daughter, Melissa Seely and husband, Bill of Greenville, SC and son, Michael Cross of New Hampshire. He also leaves two sisters, Carol Tellier and Joan DiMarzio and husband, Rick, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and a very faithful friend, Dennis Fontaine.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and accomplished golfer who amassed many trophies and titles in his career. He achieved 2 holes in 1, won the Men’s Championship at Monoosnock Country Club four times, and played on the United States Air Force Golf Team. In 1972, he won the Tournament of Champions at Pheasant Run and was a 5-time winner of the Union Carbide Invitational Tournament held at the International Country Club in Bolton, MA. He also won numerous other tournaments.

For 27 years, Bob served as First Down Marker for the Leominster High School Varsity football teams and for his faithfulness, he was inducted in 2012 into the Leominster Football Hall of Fame.

He was known by many people - especially football players and coaches – as the LHS POET for the poems that he wrote and recited at their annual banquets, and he was frequently asked to read them on radio.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
