Robert Dobransky Obituary

Leominster - Robert Alan Dobransky, age 84, of Leominster, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Robert “Bob” was born in Pejepscot, Maine on July 8, 1937, as the first child of the late Andrew and Susie Dobransky (Obrin).

Bob had a wonderful and happy childhood in Pejepscot, being a big brother to his sisters Sylvia and Monica, and a loyal friend to all.

Shortly after his graduation from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Bob started working at American Cyanamid as a research chemist.

He married the love of his life, Cynthia Dobransky (Webb). After living in Connecticut for several years, they moved to Leominster, MA where Bob started a long and successful career. He worked as a research chemist for Fitchburg Paper and Weyerhaeuser Company. He then became a sales representative for James River.

In those years as a sales representative, he traveled to many places in the United States. Bob was dedicated to his job, but his family always came first. He loved spending time with his family, whether this was working together in the garden or enjoying the pool, playing cribbage or playing cards, going on trips to Sebago Lake and Walt Disney World, or traveling to Hawaii and California, Bob always made sure everybody was smiling and happy.

Bob was kind and had a heart of gold. He always went out of his way to help anyone in need. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces when the tomatoes, raspberries and potatoes from his garden were ready for picking. He was a sports fan who loved all the New England teams and enjoyed spending time with his son’s dog Tisbie, taking her on many car rides “to get the paper”.

He was a truly wonderful husband, the best dad to his children, the sweetest “Bampa” and “opa” to all his grandchildren, the kindest brother to his sisters, and a caring and loving father-in-law. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son, Daniel D. Dobransky.

Bob is survived by his wife Cynthia A. Dobransky; his daughter, Dawn A. Fortier (Dobransky) and her husband John Fortier; his son Peter S. Dobransky and his wife Tamara Dobransky (Lemmens); his siblings, Sylvia O’Connor (Dobransky) and her husband Robert O’Connor, and Monica Burke (Dobransky) and her husband Peter Burke; his grandchildren, Ashley Fortier, Alicia Allen (Fortier) and her husband Austin Allen, Dominique Dobransky, Elizabeth Fortier, and Lance Dobransky. Bob also leaves many nephews and nieces.

Private services will be held on Monday, April 18.
